Rubio is a lawyer who fought for the Republican nomination in 2016, and was a house rep for Florida as well as the speaker of the house, later on.
Rubio fought strategies to combat climate change, but he was strongly in favor of lowering, or even eliminating property taxes, which would lead to an increase of 1-2.5% to support schools.
Rubio pushed hard to move Florida to the right, but he was also considered a man that was easy to work with for both sides. He opened discussions the Black Caucus when the majority of young African-American males felt the American dream was not “available to them”, and he pushed for change, and supported efforts to promote literacy and mentoring for black children and others.
Several times in his political career, Rubio was investigated by the Ethics Committee for charging personal things on his party Amex card. Each case was proven that he paid that part of the balance off with his own money, and no infraction was found.
